As cigar aficionados know, cutters don’t work well on cigars with blunt ends. They chop off too much and you wind up with a mouth full of tobacco. For those cigars, you need a punch and this great little cigar punch fills the bill. It comes in a nice box that makes it great for a gift. A neat little drawstring carrying case is included. The punch is compact, actually smaller than I visualized, but that’s a plus because it fits nicely into your pocket. It’s sturdy, made of zinc and stainless steel, and for its size, it has a nice heft. It has three punches. 20, 25, and 30, ring gauges, so it will punch the right-sized hole in most cigars.To use it you flip it open, use the appropriate sized punch to put a neat hole in the end of your cigar, and flip it closed. (A magnet holds it closed when you’re not using it. This is a nice feature because the three punches have sharp edges and you don’t want it flipping open in your pocket.) When you close it there are round tabs that fit into the punch holes and push out the plug of tobacco. Then it serves as a handy cigar holder and you can lay your stogie either lengthways or crossways and it will hold the cigar up above whatever surface it’s on.It would be a great addition to any cigar smoker’s gear.
